Very first Maxwell render from a scene I'm working on. Modelled straight from a magazine image. Reached SL18 in about 12 hours. Not much noise left, so I was quite happy with it.

Very nice start! but i would say that is oversaturated ,i´ll try decrease beamwood texture saturation and also the yellow wall , seems like the wall doesn´t have texture only color.

Cheers

what was the render output size for it to take 12 hours? Were there lots of light sources? Nice metal.

Thanks to everybody for their comments. Here is an updated image which took almost 20 hours to render at 800x800 pixels.

I aggree with you voltron777 that it took ages to render, taking into account the fact that there are no other light sources but the SkyDome!! I render on a Athlon 64 3200+ with 2Gigs of ram. Could anyone suggest why this happens?

Hi Vodka79. The material on the chair (I suppose you mean the fabric) is my version of the excellent Golden Cloth material i got from the mxm Gallery. I changed the bump map a bit.

Thanks again!!

Wow, the new version is looking really good, nice work. Awhile back, long render times in maxwell seemed "normal." I was just wondering if it had gotten any faster since last I heard. I'd also love to hear how folks are cutting down the times...again, very nice looking scene.
Best regards, JR

Sweet looking update this time :) nice work, just one thing i'd like to see fixed is the ceiling. It's a bit saturated, perhaps tone it down slightly. Besides that it's nice.

Thank you Max. In order to fix the saturated ceiling I will have to reduce the intensity of the wood texture. Right? Is there another way to do it?

Thanks again

That would be one way to do it which would work, otherwise you can just do it in post if you wish so you don't have to re-render it again. It depends on you. But toning down the brightness of the texture works fine. :)

nice image -> however, 33 hours is a long time for that -> maybe the white has something to do with the rendering time.

must be higher then 210 ? +- 245, or even higher. Do you mind sharing its setting with us ?

You are right. The reflectance value of the white wall is 242. Is that a problem? I mean if a want to get a pure white color shouldn't that be around 255?

Thanks again

Nice image so far - like the physical sky lighting better myself - it has more colour range.

I actually thought the walls looked fine with the brighter colour, it really depends on what colour they are supposed to be - no reason they couldn't have been that rich.

For the wood roof: I would try to avoid desaturating that colour too much as it's likely to go grey and muddy very fast. I dont think it's saturation that's the problem so much as the colour of your texture is looking a bit off. Maybe try a hue-saturation tweak in Photoshop - shift the reds towards yellow in that area and you'll have to desaturate it less. Probably easiest to just fix it in the render though and not re-render the whole thing.

Nice work!

So, is this a known issue?
