you might want to try and re-installl your plugin. this happened to me a couple of times before i performed a re-install. after the procedure it all went back to normal.

Maybe it is a file you made with an older plugin?

Try this:

-Open a new session with max 9;
-Change renderer to Maxwell;
-Merge the problematic file;
-If all goes well check at the material editor > material browser all the materials of the scene and replace any one called "dsa" or any that is not Maxwell or Standard.
-If all materials are ok you will be able to save without problems.

Before importing in Max9, try removing the cameras from Max8 scenes.

when i merged the scene i didn´t choose the cameras and it works but when i assign materials to layers it crash! :(

If you could share a simplified scene, I could try to see what's going on.

According to Autodesk documentation, Max9 is not supported on Macs running Windows, at least this is what I recall reading when I installed it to test.

This is not a plug-in problem then...

bad news for the moment, but definetly not a maxwell problem.

Try assigning a Maxwell material to all the objects at the same time (not to layers) and save. Re-open and assign materials as you would normally do. If you could save the file I think everything would be fine afterwards.

I am waiting for the "3DS Design" license, but it looks that it is not a good idea to try it on a Mac :-(

I hope it runs fine on a "evil empire" box running Vista 64 bit though....

I hope Autodesk finds a solution rather quickly!
