If I create an MXM and reference it, then move to embed values and let it copy them over, and then save, the file works as expected.

But if I save the file with the referenced values box ticked, then it won't reload and just gives a general error upon loading (3dsmax generated)

Now I am using Max6 so just pointed the Max7 maxwell plugin to my Max6 install, so that could be an issue.

Just curious if anyone else has had this issue. I'm sure it was working fine not so long ago, but now I have a mapped network location for all my work, so I'm pointing to a V:\blah\blah\blah\blah\blah.mxm rather than a local folder, or what was before, a relative maching path \\predator\blah\blah\blah.mxm

Bit of a pain because I have to tap Referenced Values (no) then Embed Values again to make sure I've got the latest ones, rather than it just using the latest ones.

Any ideas? I know I should really update Max but it's a full version update now and I don't really need any of the new features bar stack editable poly...

Thanks

Dave

Indeed there was a problem with referenced materials, which causes crashes when loading scenes or switching between embedded or referenced material type, but the crash was corrected already and the update will be available soon.

PS. If another version of the plug-in worked with Max6, then the crash is not caused by the fact that you're using Max6 but by the above mentioned known issue. On the other hand, please note that the plug-in was never meant to be used with Max6, so maybe there are other hidden crashes or unexpected behaviors.

Ah cool, thanks for that.

Can't save anything now without saving a new copy, checking it's ok, then calling it the old filename :)

Hey ho, good practice making sure saves work :D
