The new Plug-in crashes Max if you open a file done with the previous version on Max9, I guess it’s because of the changes in the Maxscript names for the material parameters?

Is there any workaround?

Thanks,

The Material name parameters change will never cause crashes or incompatibilities with a previous version.
The crash happens on all your scenes? Could you share the above mentioned scene?

It’s not the name of the material but the name in maxscript previously. for example for reflectance 0 check box was:

'BSDF Reflected Color Use Texture'
Now it is
BSDF_Reflected_Color_Use_Texture

I don’t see any other reason for the crash.

Yes, I was referring to those parameters too. They will never cause any trouble.
Related to the scene, if you can't share it (don't worry, it will be confidential), can you at least send the dump file 3dsmax creates in the %temp% directory? Maybe we can figure it out ... bogdan.coroi@gmail.com

PS. When you say "previous version of Max9" you're talking about plug-in version 1.5.3, right?

Bogdan,

Yes it was version 1.5.3
I found the problem. Some materials where referenced to external .mxm files and they where the problem. I had to convert them to embedded and then I was able to open the max file with the new version.

We would like to find the cause of this problem and solve it if it's the case. Can you give us more details, maybe the scene and the referenced materials? Thank you.

Bogdan,

Sure, I have been kind of busy at work, but I will send you a striped version tonight.
