It looks to me like that scene used a plugin from before to the implementation of the mxm material system. I'm afraid you may have to re-texture everything... :(

I'm not sure if this will help, but I've read that for older scenes, you have to open them using the new plugin and then just resave them. Then reopen the scene and render.

You don't have to re-texture anything.

All entities from an old scene (materials, cameras, utilities), and by old I mean scenes made with the old Maxll plug-in, before 05.12.2006, are automatically translated by the new plug-in (ver. 1.0.79). This translation step takes place when you open the scene with the new plug-in. When there is an error in the translation process, you get a window translation pop-up, telling you the error message. Did you get any error messages when you opened the scene?

tonyote,

Set the render engine to "default scanline" then set it back to MWR, this should give you previews in the material editor. The materials will have to be renamed in the editor since they have been lost with this plugin update.

Well, that scene has materials made with beta! I don't think those materials are translated with the new plugin. There's a material translator made by one person of the forum that maybe helps. I'll check it out.

Search for "converter". There are some scripts for max to convert materials from maxwell to standard and standard to maxwell, maybe it takes in account beta materials. (I think the author started to make the script at beta stage so probably it does or he has the old converter).

YUP.. tried that already fernando!!

good idea but it didnt seem to convert my old plastics, metals... etc materials... i think is cause the new plugin doesnt seem to recognize them, so there isnt a way to convert them!!! grrrrr...

I have an old beta plugin wich doesnt seem to work also... i think is BETA 1.2.1

ANYONE ELSE HAS ANOTHER BETA PLUGIN THEY CAN SHARE?? gonna try installing the old beta plugin and then converting the materials...

help? anyone?
thx in advance
