I need to know what would fix this, if there is a way around

I installed the 64 bit max plug and the Maxwell studio, uploaded my Licence, yet when i hit render the Maxwell logo appears. i re Started max but it still shows up. What's the deal, and how can i fix it. .
Does this have to do with the fact that i'm using a 64plug and maxwell is on the 32bit directory?

It has nothing to do with using a 64-bit plug-in. You should get the watermark when rendering from Studio as well. If you do, it's purely an installation problem, please make sure your license is valid and placed at the right location. It would be very odd to only get the watermark when rendering from the plug-in but if that's the case, please provide more details about your set-up: windows version, install locations etc.

Well, maxwell is installed and licenced, on the Program Files (x86) folder. However the Max folder is in Program Files for the 64bit software. If i render on maxwell i have no watermark, however as soon as i render on max i get the watermark.

Are you sure you don't have Maxwell installed in two different places? Search for mxcl.exe on all your drives, you might have it twice. Also, open a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd) and type:

echo %MAXWELL_ROOT%

Does this print "C:\Program Files (x86)\Next Limit\Maxwell\"? Is that where your license.dat file is?

Do you have multiple user accounts set up? Do you switch users when running Max?

Thanks for the reply,

I'm running Windows Vista 64bit and when a 32 bit software is installed it automatically adds it to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Next Limit\Maxwell\", were as the native 64bit it puts them into the "C:\Program Files\..." location. Since the maxwell is installed on the 32bit Program files, when it runs it does it from that location. Meaning that when I input the Dat file for the license it automatically adds it to the root folder of Maxwell. Now, I'm pretty sure this is the root of the evil, since my other workstation that runs Vista 32 runs perfectly fine and without the watermark. What i do not know is if there is a way to imput the Dat license file directly from max or creating a copy on a "C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell\" which will only hold the license file. (I just thought of that as I was writing, I'll give it a try). Or maybe there is a way of telling the max plug to look for the file on a specific folder?

If anyone has gone trhough this and was able to fix it please let me know.

I finally found ut what i did wrong. My license file was on a remote locations from were the Maxwells read it. Since here i have two program files, i guess the plug was looking for the licence on the local directory and not on a networ drive.

Thank you Mihnea for replying, it made me think a little; if not i get stuck arguing with myself.
