Here's another problem with the Max 9 plugin - the render time doesn't go any higher than 1h30m. Work around is export to MXS and import in Maxwell Studio.

I'm having a similar problem. I set up the time for 480 min (8 hr) render, once I hit the render button the time changes...one time it's 4hrs sometimes 3hrs?

if somebody knows how to fix this I would really appreciate the help.

Is it reaching your desired sampling level before your desired time and then quitting?

Maxwell stops when:
-Reach the time limit
OR
-Reach the desired sampling level

If you set your time limit to 1000000h and your desired SL as 1, Maxwell will render until SL1 time, probably less than 1minute and stop

Probably is due to SL. By default it's set to 12 instead of 25 as before.
