I already put this in the bug report but i did a little further testing and discovered I was incorrect in what I though originally. the procedure i follow is import an .obj file with multiple elements to it. apply a uvw map, apply a material, try to detach an element. (the main thing is the application of the uvw map. with out the uvw map it won't crash) Max crashes every time. when I remove the new mexwell plugin and replace it with the old plugin I can't get it to crash. I'm using 3ds max7 on a xp64 system. (interestingly enough even when I use vray as a render engine I can crash it as well but like I said if I remove the new maxwell plug it stops crashing)

can anyone else create this problem as well?

well I've pared it down further. if you make a sphere, turn it into a mesh, clone it, attach it to the other sphere and add something from the modifier list (turbosmooth crashes max as well as uvw. is what I've tried so far.You do not need to apply a material or flip it over to the maxwell renderer) then detach the sphere and you receive a hang and a crash.

if you remove everything from the modifier stack it won't crash.

seems only to crash on xp64

If you remove the maxwell plug everything is fine.

if you place the old maxwell plug back everything is fine.
