Is it just me, or do you have the same problem? I tried to render with 1.1 and my emitters render completely black. The material editor shows the emitter as bright white as they should be.

Any thoughts?

Is your emitter object still putting out light?

If you are using a plane as your emitter, and you are looking at it from behind, it wll show up as black.

If you are using some sort of closed geometry (like a sphere or box), I'm not sure what could be occuring (I haven't loaded 1.1 yet so I can't experiment). It may have to do with the renumbering of the projector problems everyone has been having with the Max plugin.

Thanks for your reply michaelplogue.

No my emiter is not putting out light and it is completely black, regardless of where it has been applied. I tried spheres, planes, even tried reversing the plane's normals. Nothing.

Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait a bit longer...

What are the settings for your emitter material? I just did a quick test in Max 6 and there was no problem getting an emitter material to work.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I was away for a few days.
Well, here is a simple scene that displays the problem. Only a few bubbles inside a box. The black things are emitters.

The emmiter material contains only an emitter layer with the preset attributes of a 100 Watt lamp.

Any ideas?

Make sure the Direct Illumination is ON.

If you mean the direct layer, yes it is ON.

Have you created the emitter material with v1.1 or it's a previously made scene? It could be helpful if you can send the scene for testing.

WOW!! You are right Tom. The emiter material was created with an older version and that was causing the problem. Thanks a lot!!
