I can't get a grasp of it!

I create a scene in Max with the units setup set to Metres, when I export it to Maxwell it is in Millimetres? 1 metre in Max turns out to be 10mm in Studio???

When I create a scene in Max in Millimetres, it exports 1 millimetre as 10mm and 10mm as 0.01 mm.

This is either a massive bug, or I am stupid, and am doing something completely wrong, I am willing to accept the latter, if this is the case.

Hopefully I am plain stupid and you can tell me what I am doing wrong?

When you export it do you change the scale to 1.0? It is by default 0.01 (RENDER->MAXWELL->SYSTEM)

Hi,

yes this can be a pain! I don't understand why Maxwell isn't capable of reading the system scale directly from max.

In the meantime, Casey posted a script in the sticky 'known bugs' topic that will return the correct value for you to put in the Maxwell units dialog. quite useful.
I've adapted it to be a macroscript. Place it in you UI / Macroscripts directory, and use the 'customise user interface' to drag it onto your toolbar. It's under the category 'maxwell'. When you press it a message box will apear telling the number to put in the maxwell render units box. Seem to work...
If Next limit will expose some of the maxwell renderer's properties to maxscript then this could be automated.

Ok,

Adapted from Casey's script under the sticky 'known bugs' topic.

------------------------------------------------------------------

This script is a calculator, it doesn't change any settings for you. You need to place the returned value into the render settings ¦ scene scale spinner.

Script installation:

First of all, either copy the script to your UI/macroscripts directory, and re-start max OR drag and drop the script into the max viewport.

customize ¦ customize user interface

Choose the 'toolbars' tab,
From the 'category' pull down menu, choose 'maxwell'

Now drag the 'convert system...' to a toolbar of your choice.
