(breaking my self-imposed exile to report a possible bug)

It looks like the plugin is not releasing memory after a render is processed. If you do multiple renders in a row of the same scene - without changing anything - the 3dsmax.exe process continues to grow in size until it crashes.

Hello michaelplogue, i have tested what are you saying.
I have built a 1million polys scene, and i´m trying to render at least 15/20 times to see memory usage, my results:

Memory usage before launching render is 165.35
Memory usage when i press render botton 189.35
Memory usage when mxcl is launched 166.41

After 15 render process(adding materials, creating more elements etc) the total amount of memory before launching render has gone to 167.45 so, it´s normal an increment but i think is minimal

What´s the scene configuration? Are you talking about great amount of memory consumed?

Thanks

It's a pretty simple scene. One character with a multi/sub material (all subs are MSM). For the figure's hair, I've used the weight mapping techniquie insead of clip maps. There's also plus several sphere's with one of the pre-made bubble materials applied. I'm using an HDR image for illumination and background.

The following are the listed memory usage after mxcl launches:

Before first render, 3dsmax is sitting at 175 MB

after first render: 381 MB
2nd: 583 MB
3rd: 784 MB
4th: 986 MB
5th: 1,187 MB
6th: 1,388 MB
7th: 1,590 MB
8th: 1,792 MB
9th: 1,993 MB
10th: 2,195 MB
11th: 2,395 MB
12th: 2,589 MB
13th: 2,798 MB
14th: 2,999 MB

It'll keep going till it gets to around 4 GB and then 3ds Max crashes (insufficient memory error).

 . there is something that´s increasing the memory to the extreme. I don´t know if it´s the multi subobject or even the HDR in different channels. Thanks for the info michaelpogue, you will receive news so soon

after reading michael's post I checked that too, and in fact max's memory usage does increase after each exporting. not so drastically as reported by michael though, just a few megs each time.
