The ideea is simple: As with all default values, day&time values are set to the current day and time with every scene/3DStudio session you open. If something is to be wrong, it should be wrong for all the default rendering options, not only day&time ones. Whenever a default value gets changed and saved into the scene, by reloading the scene, you should get your changed value instead of the default one.
If you could provide a simple test scene, we'll be glad to help. Also, what version of 3D Studio Max are you using?

I'm having the same problem. Only date & time resets to default (current date and time) every time I open the file. I'm using max 8 SP3.

Apart from this, time of day is still wrong; midday is set to 9:30...

Ok... I have found what makes it happen:

If I load the maxwell parameters from a saved preset it doesn't remember date and time. It does remember it if I change the renderer manually and set all the parameters again manually.

Maybe could be because the preset was made with the previous plugin (I think).

EDIT: Confirmed; it happens because the preset was made with the old plugin. It doesn't happen with newly saved presets.

EDIT AGAIN: My problems with wrong midday hour are due to this old preset issue, so nevermind about it.

CRASH when we try too assign new render engine shader type like MR in MAX 9 64b...
This is really boring in prod pipe...
Is some body have got a tricks too bypass this problem ?

And esch time we switch of Plugs Version we have the DSA MAt which force us to reassign all the material...
So.... :?

hi there,

was testing last week with Max 9. maybe it's me, i created a scene with a box (2) emitters and the physical sky on. when it rendered, the sun was on, but the emitters did not work. i then turned off the physical sky, rendered, emitters worked. then i turned the physical sky back on, everything worked.

5 cents

I'm finding my ISO and shutter speed do not match my camera.
My camera in Max will have the default ISO 100, shutter 250
and the Maxwell viewer will have something totally different.

Are you sure you're not rendering from perspective viewport instead of a camera? Because ISO and shutter speed for perspective viewports are controlled from the Renderer settings->Perspective/Lights Viewport rollup.

Definitely using a Camera.
I've created new ones and it works,
but once I close and reopen the file
the settings don't come across.

Since I can't reproduce it here, could you share a simple scene?

Duncan, are you by any chance looking at the multilight ISO and shutterspeed sliders? Because there is a bug in mxcl, in the multilight panel, which sets the shutterspeed to 25, but in the preview tab of mxcl, you should see the iso and shutterspeed you had in your max camera settings.

Hi,
Its missing the settings in the Preview/MXI tab.
Its also loosing other settings as well.
When I open the file up, its missing the MXI & MXS paths.
Maybe its this particular file.
Will do some more testing.

cheers

Hi guys,

I don't know if this has been mentioned before in this long thread, but I find it quite annoying that instancing of maps between individual Maxwell material layers is broken every time I reload a scene in Max.

I've found another bug in max plugin: it does not take in account map channels (projector number). When importing the mxm map channels are translated always as 1, and if you change it has no effect on render. :(

Don't know is it mentioned yet, but max plugin's installer simply crashing after first "next" button on Win2003 Srv SP2 64bit.

Hi,

I'm coping with an odd problem in 3ds Max which might have been caused by installing Maxwell. Whenever I create a chamferbox, I cannot set the Length and Width spinner values lower than 0.1 centimeter. All preferences are set to their defaults in a fresh Vista 64-bit Max 9 installation with the Productivity Booster. Units are centimeters, decimals indicated by points, not commas. I've never before encountered this problem and used the 64-bit Max 9 with Maxwell before on a Windows XP x64 system.

I'd appreciate your help, thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Metin
