I now tried changing the PATH environment variable (just had to add \mxcl to the PATH evironment variable under Windows > System > Environment ..). And it now renders .. but as you only black/white .. strange?mesh wrote:well guys(for those who don't know y 'mxcl' don't start), confirmed that u have to add the path under the Environment Variables, not inside max itself
MAXWELL_ROOT
C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell\
Path
C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell\mxcl
this seems to work AFTER i've added it in...but, when i open my previous beta version to continue rendering, it just render 'black' ....well do we have to RE-ASSIGN all over again? one thing, one of the files the render previews comes out black and white...strange? seems few things aren't working properly yet it seems...or just that we don't know how to set the settings?
Thanks for the hints, but I still only render b/w images.. have added these paths inside 3ds max .. and added the environment variables mentioned also in this thread.Fritz wrote:Hi again,
Well, I put one in each:
Configure User Paths/
External Files & 3rd Party Plug-Ins
...however, when I exit and re-start Max, it forgets - I seem to have to re-enter the path each time Max is launched. Plus, this is Max 8. My bad, sorry!
I guess it's probably an environment variable that has to be set...
i found quote from Stephen,Right click on your "my computer" icon. This is easiest.
Next click "properties" on the pull down
Next click the "Advanced" tab
Next click the "environment variables" button
You will see in the top portion of the window the variables you need to change or confirm. They are the "PATH" and "MAXWELL_ROOT". Simply click on them (highlight) then select the "edit" button.
MAXWELL_ROOT
C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell\
PATH
C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell\;C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell\mxcl\
Hope this helps.
