Thank you for your answers Mihnea. Now I see that opacity works ok. I was missing some concepts about what to touch to change roughness and hadn't seen the Maxwell parameters rollout. :P

Just a question: Is there a way to change attenuation color from max standard material? Just to know.

in the previous plugin i was able to render a cam animation(i.e. from 0 to 5 frame) and maxwell used to render one by one images.... now it opens severeal mxcl's at the same time.

can we get this feature back please?

You mean the transmittance color? In the case of the standard material, the opacity value is used as the transmittance color (same value on the r, g, b channels).

Animation support is not implemented yet, but we hope to have it finished early next week.

I think you got the point of the tiling problem but it occurs with integral tiling factor too; if you are tiling a 2x2 checkerboard it will look ok but not with single pictures. ie:

The default values of "sampling level" and "time" are set to "12" and "5min" respectively. Could we maybe have them set to something very high instead, like 72000min and level25. You can always stop a rendering, but there is nothing more annying than coming in in the morning to find that youre all-night render finished after 5 minutes.

We'll look into this.
I hope it can be quickly solved. All my previous scenes have mxm's and textures in a mapped drive and can't load them anymore (I guess it's because of it). It's a more important problem than I previously thought.

I manually removed the maxwell.dlr file in the MAX/PLUGINS folder.

Is there more to it?

Is it correct procedure to completely uninstall the entire Maxwell installation (89MB?) and then install the new plugin?

Now I'm really confused.

By the error message it looks like it installed it in another directory? Have you checked that the dlr is there?
