Yes, in 3dsmax plugin, the attenuation unit is cm.

Yes, the attenuation units are centimeters, it says so in the name of the UI element: Attenuation(cm). :)

We'll consider adding a unit specifier like in Studio.

That'd be a very helpful option indeed!

Good to know - I was wondering about this myself. Would it be possible for the plugin to use the scene's current measurement system automatically? I aways use feet/inches since the U.S. is still in the dark ages when it comes to measurements.. :P

I know other folks use the Max system, while others use the metric, so it would be nice if the plugin would reflect whatever the scene is using at that time.

Hello again!

Where are the textures in the render?

I have a problem with textures: they are not shown in render:

max viewport:

maxwell render:

And what about the strange jagged blue artefact?

Is this a bug? Or is it me??

Regards, Roman

(Tested with 3ds Max 8 sp3 and 3ds max 9)

About the jadge shadows, yes is a known bug when you use bump map with phisical sky. You must to subdivides the mesh as more as possible.
Do you have any messege when you make the render. What happens when you update the materials preview within max? any errors?

Looks odd indeed. What I can think of is a scale problem. Do you use other units than centimeters in your Max scene?

thanks jespi and metin for your rapid answers!!

@ jespi:

jagged shadow: my fault: too high bump value: 100! (default!! for imported mxm) it becomes better with 10 or lower! (see images, value 10 for bump)

- no error messages while render or mat-preview updates

- mesh is enough subdivided (as I think) - also see images

@metin: yes, I am using centimeters for this test (i also thought that this is a scale problem, but I can not figure it out so far...)

BUT where are the textures....? :?:

No idea but two thoughts:
1_Have you turn off the diffuse box??
2_Have you checked the normals?
3_Why you don´t use maxwell materials instead of standard materials?

I hope these help you

3ds max checker material is not working in mxcl:

error message:

Warning: Could not translate channel 2 from material "Material", layer "Layer". Reason: Unknown map type.
