i am unable to load the latest plugin for max version 9.0 (1.7.8 ),

the msg shows:
failed to initialze, error code:14001 - this application has failed to start because the apllication configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the applicaton may fix this..

any suggestions are welcomed..

You probably need to install an updated package from Microsoft. If you're using 32-bit Max, use this link. For 64-bit Max it's this package.
