Is there a way to apply matte material in Maxwell to output alpha channels to composite later? I have cars, and people, and trees, etc that I would like to render out in a separate pass, and that way I can modify them independently from the background??

Please advise. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Regards Peter.

You might be able to try the Material ID and the Object ID output formats. I haven't tried it (I'm at the office).

It wouldn't render them out in a seperate pass, but it would give you more options in Photoshop than just the Alpha Channel.

That's exactly what those channels are for...

You can group objects by apply the same material to them and output a Material ID, ... those objects should have a single color applied, ...and that should make for an easy selection in PS.

There's a lot of flexibility with the object/material passes, ...you just have to start playing around and you can quickly see how to manipulate it to your needs.
