I'm trying to work on some scenes with Max 9 and the latest plugin (Version 1.0.79) that I created in Max 7 that had the original 1.1 plugin installed. I was told that I had to install the new plugin into Max 7 open the file, save it and then open the new file in Max 9 for it to work properly. When I do this and open the file in Max 9 it crashes before it finishes loading the scene, I've tried it several times. I can open this new file in Max 7 and render it with no problem so the only conclusion I can come up with is that the new plugin for Max 9 doesn’t work. Can someone from the A-team shed some light on this, I was under the impression that the new Max 9 plugin was working properly that's why I wanted until now to upgrade.

I have the same problem. I cannot load a scene made with the old plugin in max9. no problem with max8!
