Hi all:
This is the 1st project that i´m trying to do in max. I´ve worked only in studio (i´ve been working with maxwell for only 10 days). So now i was preparing the scene for rendering, everything was so easy and fast. But..... image renders completely out of focus. I´m working with generic units. So the questions are:
-Should i change the sistem unit?
-Do i need to scale the model?

It seems as if i were making a macro picture....while what i want to render is a livingroom :S
Thanks in advance,
David Martin

If you prefer to model in generic units, that should be no problem. However, generic units don't really have a true conversion to real-world measurements - so there's no way for Maxwell to know just how big your scene is supposed to be. So when you are ready to render after modeling in Max units, I would recommend changing the scene's default units of measure, and rescale your scene manually so that it's the appropriate size for the real-world.

If you haven't touched the units you'll probably will have generic units in the unit setup panel and inches at the system unit setup window (click the button at top of the unit setup panel). Maxwell will read it from the latter panel and that's probably the problem.
Another answer could have something to do with a low Fstop and high shutter speed:http://atillaakin.com/maxwell/dof.html

I scaled the scene to a 10000% of its original size and renders fine, but i think that this is not the correct way of work....
I supose that it should affect artificial illumination. Need to know how to do it with accuracy.
Thank´s Michael

The generic units mark only affects the display at counters and so; I work with generic units marked too and that's not the problem. In the same panel you have a button at top of the panel which reads: "system units setup" and is the one you have to touch. If you know in which units you have modelled everything just adjust it there to match your modelling units. No rescaling needed (At least works for me).
