I'm rendering from 3dsmax8 SP3 without problems.

Try changing the default mxs name to temprender.mxs (has changed in this update) and check that the file location for that file does exist (there were no output subfolder in my installation folder).

You can try too to specify a location and a file name in Studio>Edit>Maxwell preferences>paths tab>Temp mxs.

Also check that all the materials in the scene have been resaved and there's no max standard material in material editor with a bitmap applyed but without specifying which one.

The best way to export from Max to Studio is mxs for sure
You have to render a mxs file (uncheck the "render after save the file" box) from max plugin, and open it from Studio. Works perfect for me

Hmm. I can do all you say you can't and I'm using 3dsmax too; render from studio open mxs exported from 3ds, save the mxs... You have updated the plugin, don't you?

I don't know how to help you. :|

I have the same problem than you Lorenzo.I can render inside max and mxcl but i can´t inside studio. The only solution to render inside studio with a mxs exported from 3dsmax (with mxm that contents bitmap)is change the proyectors to 0 instead of 1 (reverse than in max) but i can´t see the textures.
