I didn't get it - so old beta engine available for render again? As i remember, RS0 - it's old'n'good one, huh?

It`s been available since the RCs i believe, you can also select it within Studio or via command line. I agree it's a great solution for previews, not all that bogged down compared to rs1 actually :)

To use it in Studio simply hit Preview instead of Render, in the viewports. With a maximized viewport it's plenty of space for test images.

In the preferences you can decide which engine to use for the material previews. In some cases you may want to switch from using RS0 to RS1 (the engine used in the final render) to get a more accurate view of your material. It will take longer to generate the mat previews though.

from studio, you can add a command line tag, something like -RS:0 and mxcl will use the rs0 engine for the engine
