If I build a new material in studio then it renders ok.

diffuse seems to be ok.

metal, I cannot assign a map to the colour slot.

Yes, there are some problems in previous materials (Beta) to Advance materials conversion. There are some issues "as maps" that needs beeing improved. We know that it´s important for people who use previous version scenes, but have try the new material wizard? It´s so great :D

Hi Mane,

I'm not using the Beta...

and I'm exporting a new scene from max with the new plugin.

anyway, I will rebuild the materials anyway, it's just that before I could use the material from max as a base to start form, now I must start from scratch.

Oh, ok, just so we're clear, everything I'm using is new to MW1 (in fact on a brand new machine with nothing but max and maxwell on it!)

using MXM in Max wo0rk erally well BTW. I like the way you can boot up the mw me from inside max to.

Not only a heavy scene but a hi-res rendering too... This is what I will try now.

I ran into the same problem with M~R v1 and the max material editor. Color maps for plastic materials do not show up in the render. PITA when you don't feel like messing with the external material editor.

Just don't use the old diffuse, plastic, dielectrics,... from the material/map browser from max, they are all messed up; use mxm and from mxed>File choose "material wizard" so you can make brand new diffuse, dielectrics, plastics, metals,... as before but perfectly translated to new material system.
