Hello Taichi,

If you already know this about studio than my apologies (just trying to be helpful)

Someone may correct me on this but the best way to texture your geometry is inside studio. What you will need to do (in 3Ds max first) is apply UVW Mapping or UnWrap UVW modifier to your geometry and apply a maxwell diffuse material with a bitmap in the color slot. If you'd like this could be your material texture (so you can check you UVW's) or a simple .jpg of a checkboard.

When you render out the scene, uncheck the 'launch render after saving MXS' option under MXS Export Options in the System rollout. Then save out your mxs file in the Output mxs file path.

Open up this mxs file in studio an then apply you MXM materials from withing there.

A couple things to note:

Groups you've made in max won't import as group in studio (you'll have to re-group your geometry). As a workaround, if you select a group in max, then hide unselected so that the rest of the geometry isn't visible you can save out individual .mxs files for each group. Then when you bring each .mxs into studio you can regroup them little by little (it's a serious pain in the @$$ but it helps to stay organized).

You file size might be pretty big. I have scenes in upward of 300 mb large!!!!

Well I hope that helps and once again sorry if you already knew this about studio. Like I said, just trying to be helpful. I know a lot of people want to work strictly within their native app right now but with RC5 you get the most out of studio with regard to materials.

best regards,
Luis

you get this message in the studio if the exported geometrie had no uvw
modifier from Max if you use a bitmap in your material.
But you can make a uvw modifier in studio also, it is called "projector". First you must select the geometrie, than under the main menue
"Window" you open the "Projection list" window. In the "projection list" window you right click on your mouse and the menue open "create projector".
Next you go to the window "Objectparams" and scroll down, there you see your new created "projector" from your selected geometry.
Now you go again to the main nenue "Window" and open the menue
"Projections param table" and open it. In the new window "Projection params" under "projection type" you can choose (flat, sperical, cylindrial or cubic for the uvw) for your object. Than you can scale, move or rotate the projector in the scene window for your selected object. So you have the uvw for your object.

I hope it help you.
