hi is there a way to stop certian objects/materials from bouncing light ?
I've got some grass thats bouncing to much green back onto a wall and is looking pretty yuk. Is there some way to stop this ?
I'm guessing this is an unbiased problem.

Unfortunately, no. I have the same problem with that bastard unbiased grass.

pay attention to the unit scale! If the scene is to small the bouncing of light is higher.

Its all to scale. So no other solutions ?

When you say grass are you referring to a texture map? Is is not possible to make the shader for the grass more absorbent / less reflective?

You make not want to do this, but an obvious solution is to render the scene twice, with and without the grass, and then use some compositng magic to get the desired result.

I bet if you cover your real lawn with a large printed grass texture, it will bounce a lot also....

I "think" real grass is not boucing too much because every small little grass is pointing different directions ... and also absorbs a lot of light...

see here, I modeled that grass with grass plugin from polas.net... and even if there s a white mailbox near... it does not turn green... but the trip was 3 millions polys for about 3m2.... ouch... (rendered with LW F-prime...)

otherwise, yes with Neil... two renders... ouch again...

Last not least, the first new 2 shders should be Grass and Wood... two really difficult stuff to do with just normal diff shader...

so Let's vote now...

1) Grass and herbs... (maybe hair also)
2) Woods...

whenever i tend to use textures in Maxwell i lower the lightness in PS and also the saturation - this usually helps with situations you are experiencing

Same here (when I'm not too lazy :)). I hope the NL material editor gets saturation controls, as it's a pita to have to adjust all tex by hand in PS.
Yes! and real-world reflectance values, and presets for lazy people like me!
