Hehe, well you're also right u know that :) comparisons are a necessary even tho i personally think they're silly. But that's just my opinion. And i hope this won't turn out into a flamewar as you said but there's a big chance it will once the right people get into this thread..

However i think Vray is a good qualified and fast engine, it performs very well under pressure and they even started implementing ppt now also in it which i'm sure will be good once they developed it further. About final Render and Brazil.. i'm not sure, i'd guess they're good too at what they do and they're capable but they lack quite alot in some other areas and have a different target audience than what Vray and Maxwell has. But i'm no expert at this so plz don't listen to what i say :P

Ease of use....simple, there is no renderer that can give the quality Maxwell gives you with such an easy and quick setup.

Mentalray is pretty amazing and extremely versatile, but you have to do some studying before even producing mediocre results with it. I saying this from the point of view of how it is used inside XSI where you build "trees" of materials with different nodes. Lots of flexibility but with that, inevitably you get complexity.

For indoor situations though Mentalray can be difficult to work with....it just doesn't have optimized shaders for GI calculations and you have to crank up the settings pretty high to get rid of artifacts in ALL places. Lighting indoor is also time consuming.

if you really know how to use mental ray i must say render times are almost the same as maxwell, you can spend hours in gobal illumination and final gathering in mental ray.
