results are not the same, when scattering smaples are higher you can see the object glows more. seems more grainy however but i guess it needs lomnger to cook with higher scattering values !

edit: sorry i assume that u say abs and scattering are creating same results, is this what u mean ?

oneshot - I tried your scene and get the same results. May just be due to simple SSS that is currently implemented in this beta version - not sure.

Maybe try this with a differing value in abs and +ve values in sc and visa versa to see if this makes a difference.

Oneshot, I am having similar results with varying abs and scattering settings for SSS with the cinemaxwell plugin. I have gotten some good results with just varying the thickness of the test objects.

Have you tried just varying thickness? For some plugins it may just be that we have very simple SSS which I am begining to suspect is the case with cinemaxwell, I cannot completely conclude but I do not see very much variation at all with different settings. But there must be an abs value grater than 0 for there to be some detectable SSS for cinemaxwell plugin.
