Finally I got the beta to render to work for more than 15 minutes (simple scene 107 kPolys, shutting down everything else, rendered 6.5 hours before crashing) to test some SSS.

I had to use postpro to remove speckles, the raw render can be found here:
http://klausbusse.de/Temp/Maxwell/DiniSraw.jpg.
In Postpro I used the "Dust & Scratches" filter and a slight "unsharp mask" to restore the noise then.

it's a shame for that white dots in the original render, but you made very nice shapes and soft SSS effect makes them like made of wax! :wink:

Another overnight render with the first beta this time using a SSS plastic... I would love to see a SSS dielectric soon.

With this image I had to use even more postpro to remove speckles, the raw render can be found here:

It looks like the reflection introduced more speckles. I used the "Dust & Scratches" filter with a bigger radius (2px), used that to darken the original image, denoised the result with CS2 "reduce noise".

BTW: It's really a kind of new experience for an OS X user that all other programs must be shut down for another one to stay alive :twisted:

Can't wait for the Mac beta 1.2.1 ;-)
