I know you already bored with this scene but I selected this for it's efficiency.
It all uses diffuse materials, textures and bumpmaps.
I'll update this image tomorrow morning.
Because it just could reach sample 6 yet and going on...
Don't you think it's promising :) (w/ -hd mode!)

I think that for all us it's the first time after many years we see something really new.
Big days.

tom, your texture are totally amazing!
if it weren't for the overlayed text I could consider it a real photo...

Rescaling it to 1024*764 would give some insane presition.

Looks great, as always... my only quip: if htis is the texture on toilet paper where you live, I feel sorry for you! You need the softer, gentler Charmin!

This is Awesome Tom !!! I just need a couple of render slaves, so I can let them render while I create a new scene :)

Hehe... thx all !!!

j_petrucci, aldaryn: thx for the compliments about texture. it has a real story,
months before i was roaming and thinking what to render, this idea came up
and i told one of my friend at work to scan this paper... he asked me if he'll
do it 300 dpi as usual.. i looked at him  and said "nooo man, 2400 please!"

mtripoli: yeah man these are cheap bad toilet rolls that our boss supply us at the office     i don't use them  i had my own...hehe

adam: pentiumIII is still at home... finally i made a new comp :)
it's p4 2.8HT now at home but this is rendered with the computer at the office it's p4 2.6HT

here's a update, but it was already nice after 3 hours,
now a longer time one but just makes sense for the details :)

btw/ please someone help and tell me a site that i can up these because imageshack is resizing big ones...

buffos, yeah i also think it's not a simple linear improvement but yes it's hard to see the difference practically. however this doesn't mean there's a small difference technically. let's say it reaches to an acceptable level faster now ;)

what a cheap boss you have, how does he expect people to be productive with tp like that?

I notice in the last image there are banding issues, did it come out of the framebuffer like that or is it because of PS adjustments?
