I have post this image b4, just want to compare the result for the beta version.

All the setting are exactly the same, but i think you can tell the differents.

And I still love maxwell! :) :o :D

How do You guys achieve such results? I mean what is Your studio arrangement?

Is it a cube with no ceiling and few planes as emitters or smth?

Yes, I only use :

3 plane emitters - one on top, two on both side, (just make sure they are larger than the main object, before I made them too small so picture has noises)

no ceiling with normal skydome (light blue)

black colour background.

And how the floor is done??? I read here somewhere in forum, that big plane like ground slowes render dramaticaly...

And one more question: you render it on your single P4??? My PC is almost same and none of my renders is so noice free after 10h.

the aluminium material usually make the render more bright, very easy to get rid of the noises

Due to the automated bounce control in beta you get an overal brighter picture, as if you had set bounces a lot higher on the alpha version. This is better imo because you get a richer image with more bounces. It's not evident in this monochrome image but with textures or different colored materials the difference is noticeable.

Contrast is much easier to control now with the interactive iso, gamma and shutterspeed controls.

The blurring in beta is most noticeable where there are lots of rivets, hopefully the blur issue will be fixed with the next patches.

A contributing factor is also the weaker contrast in the beta image, it gives you the impression the alpha is sharper.

That's what the unsharp filter does in PS, it just increases contrast giving you the illusion of sharpness.

Here is a animated gif (300kb), just a slight unsharp mask applied to the beta image.

But i still think the alpha one contain more details, hope they can use back the setting in alpha in the next patch.

Yeah, there's no question the Alpha is sharper, revealing more details. Though the Beta's bounces are nicer, the blur is unacceptable. A nice image in any case, and a great test of Beta's enhancements, and clear flaws.
