Hi everybody,
Take a look at this image:
Image
There is a mirror on the wall behind black dressed woman. If You spot to upper right corner, there is missing refletcion of IES-like light cone in the mirror. All lights are visible to camera, refl. and refr. not hidden to GI, first i think this is a problem. The ligt cone is not caustics, just shadows making this effect. Whole reflected area is darker in the mirror. Any idea about this error?

about the mirror beeing darker; thats normal. Take a look at the reflection of the sky in a puddle of water. For photography tis is more or less equal to one to two stops of less light.

about the rest of the question; ? dunno

Ok maybe darker, but not so much. Now i make some test, only white lambertian material on reflector and i see there is reflected caustics which is not in the mirror. Why?

I really don't understand the issue with the mirror thing but definitely the reflection of the lady entering to the store is wrong!

It is correct, because lady is captured only from back, it is reflecting plate that has both sides same texture

That doesn't make it correct. This is a bigger problem than any perceived missing reflections...

For me an my customer it is good, as she (Miss Sofia) don' want to pay extra costs for 3d model of usefull realistic woman. My question is for next jobs, not only this one.

the so called "reflection" of the woman in dark is just strange... i would change it or leave it...

Maybe it should be. It's the most prominent strange occurrence I can see in the render.

BTW, reflected caustics in mirrors will not clear up anytime soon. You would need about a year, I think.

Arkviz, I understand your concern about the caustic reflection on the mirror but it seem contradictory your over concern about that minor detail when you have a a big problem with your "photoreal" compisition. I don't see any other problem with your image other than the lady without face.

Imagine that lady is away forever

Maybe it's the same as 'caustics-through-water' issue: they'll appear one day, but it will take forever to render them.
The best way to figure out - make a small scene: just a mirror and a IES-like light (and no girl without a face ) - the same you used for that scene. And render it to see, if it will be reflected.

Yes i tried small scene only one ligt and mirror, but same effect. If mirror has a little roughness about 2-3 reflection begin to appear but very grainy.
