Not sure if this is a bug, has been metioned already, or some new trait of 1.7 (haven't been on forum for a while) but when I use a map that is PNG (exported from Illustrator) for texture, bump etc it displays weirdly in the texture picker preview (looks like its patterning) and therefore wont show in the render.

I remember there being a similar problem with PNG's once but can't remember exactly what it was.

Could you post screenshots and/or files themselves?

Here's what the image should look like;

And this is what it looks like in Maxwell;

A similar thing also happens in my Flickr uploader sometimes. I thought it might be due to having a transparent background on the PNG but I set it to white and strange things still happen with some PNG files.

Here is the logo;

PS This forum should have a feature whereby you can attach files (or have I missed that?)

Contrary, it's the *only* reason, because Maxwell does not support layered (transparent) PNG files.

You should make sure you are *not* exporting with "transparent" option:

Surely, I could but then I can't help, because I know how to export it properly and improperly. So, I had to see your PNG to know where the problem is.

I know this already, thats why I stated in the post above......

'I thought it might be due to having a transparent background on the PNG but I set it to white and strange things still happen with some PNG files'

The point is; I tried exporting other PNG's from Illustrator with a white background and I get a similar problem.

Its ok I've realised whats going on - if you click the 'switch display size' icon in the texture viewer it isn't displaying textures properly at the larger size - so it looked to me as if it was doing something weird with white background images as well - but it renders ok so thats ok.
