All of the sudden, dielectrics seem to be much darker when I render -- I'm not sure why. Possibly a scale issue?

I've got a clear glass material and it is renders from black to a more transparent black.

Any reason why this might be happening?

Yeah I am in the same boat. Black glass. The material is transparent. It's a lamp with a sphere in the center of it with an emitter material assigned to it.

Any ideas?

I am getting dark glass as well. The galss was rendering fine until I placed spot lights directly over the glass to get some extra highlights. Any ideas as to why this is occuring. I am using high grade glass from the wizard.

Thanks,

Can anyone from nextlimt please give any insight on this. Even if I am doing something obvious in error, I do not know what it is. I need the glass to be clear with my lighting set up. Any advice would be appricated.

Thank you.

Have you tried raising the attenuation?

Hi,

I have the attenuation and REF 90 at 255,255,255 ND 1.51 and REF 0 at 11,11,11.

If any of these settings are incorrect, please let me know.

Thanks,

Aaron

I mean the one that is given in distance units, for instance, raise it to about 20 cms and see what happens

Right, the distance, my bad...

It is set to 80cm. Seems like more than enough distance for my wine glass. Can too much be a problem?

Thanks,

i'm trying your settings out on the simball right now and they seem to be working fine.

I'm using a transmittance color of 240,240,240…what is yours set at?

My issues in this glass problem were related to scale... seems like there's something different in regards to the scale issue. The scene I had rendered fine in release 1.6 and is extremely dark in 1.7 until I adjusted the scale to test. Then it cleared right up!

Scale, scale, scale.... I guess.

Asmithey--

care to share the model of the wine glass for testing purposes?

Hi,

My scene scale is 1. Everything is built full scale. It renders fine except when I have a direct spot light over it. I am using it as an Instance as there are many of them. So, there could be an issue there...speculation though. I can post it. It will be awhile though. Thanks for offering.

an mxs of it should be sufficient, otherwise .obj or .3ds
