Evening!

Here's a old old set of Rhino models i built sometime last year, nothing serious really just silly models. So i thought i'd let Maxwell 1.0 give them a beating. The scene is setup in C4D after triangulation of the Rhino models, then a MXS is generated and the materials are tweaked in Studio. Excuse the horrible textures, but they're temporary one's found on the web as i lost my whole texture archive in a recent hdd crash :(

It's lit only by HDRI, no other type of lights in this scene, so the scene setup was real quickly done :)

[Edit again] : Last and final updated added now with the rendering done after 16 hours 5 minutes 49 seconds, sampling level 16,36 was reached. I'm satisfied with it even tho the textures are kinda ugly.

the handle looks good...you should add some bubbles to detail it even more. (even though not all have them) and the void of the metal.

Thanks Mihai :D

You're right insomnia, bubbles and that little extra metal thingy in there inside the handle should have bumped it up a step further to reality even tho the rest of the scene is pretty much unreal looking :) if lazyness ain't gonna bite me i might fix those things.. hehe

Btw i forgot what kinda plastic the handle is made outta so i just set the ior to 1.59 with a couple of bumps and other type of maps to roughen it up a bit.

That's pretty screwed up dude!

Good work Max, really like the unconventional touch to it :)

This is a fun image, max. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's resolved further.

Excellent work Max! It will be cool when the noise clears up. Silly is a good thing. Nothing like creating something people think is fake and making it look real

Adrian: Thanks :D you're right, screwed is the word for it hehe and i like this type of unconventional work as you said, it's not architecture or product viz work (nothing wrong with that) but it's.. different ;)

jleckron: Thanks :) you'll see it in a few hours again when it's cleaner unless it crashes before it's done.. :/ i'll post a update again tonight.

Greg: Thanks :D i also hope it'll look cool once it's less noisy, and you're right.. making something unreal look real is fun :) challenging and silly sure, but that's what i like.

Cheers!

Hmm... Just one thought (from a conceptual standpoint) - it might be fun to add threads to the little nail/screw looking thingys - That way, they really would be almost impossible to put into the wood (as you have shown). Probably too much effort to go to for what is, in essance, just a fun idea.

Hi Max,
When I first seen the render I was wondering why you had screw heads on the nail things, but then I seen the screw driver and I then I seen your idea…

I think it’s coming along rather nicely; it’s really a funny render, good job on creativity! :D

Cheers,
Mark

Maybe the handle diameter is a touch too big in relation to the blade?
