After mis posting yesterday in jomaga's thread    I decided to get some sleep and let the computer do all the work (I'm awake now Jose :D )

So I opened my cockpit again and rendered it with RC5 straight out of beta.
I was pleasantly surprised to see I did not have to texture it all over again, I only lost some textures and need to do some material tweaking.
Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the result.

Although you have already seen my cockpit I still wanted to show you the Rc5 result:

Hi bracesport,

Thanks

I rendered it directly from Rhinoceros.

the rhino plugin does work really well with RC5, but i do enjoy using studio to play with the textures. BTW yours are stirling...

the archicad plugin however is still very buggy, but im sure it will come right. modo to maxwell via .obj with all meshes frozen and named works a treat too...

I have been noticing for a little while now that RC5 applies more color-transfer (color-bleeding) than beta did. It is not clear how physically accurate is this behavior. There is a good chance that it relates to the materials and possibly the complex IOR data would solve it.

On the other hand it may also be that RC5 is not fully callibrated. In this respect the images seem to have lost a small percentage of their original realism. The A-Team may consider more accurate Cornell tests (including indirect illumination Cornells) and try not to rely on their eyes only.

ThomasAn - I agree - to me (and this is of course entirely subjective) - the beta had a kind of 'airyness' about it as though you felt that each object existed in space and somehow influenced the other objects around it. Somehow how the 'space' between each object seemed real. Almost as though you had an idea about the 'heat' of each object.

I know that all sounds pretentious and waffly but I can't think how else to describe it. RC5 while beguiling and better than most other renderers has lost this quality.

It's almost as though some aspect of the spectral energy calcs has been taken away.

Very nice, (I don´t think this image is worse than beta one, noway)
So.... after some sleep, you can render now another thousand of pieces

Thanks Bracesport,
Yes you're right about that, there are some issues but overall Rhinoll works fine, and it will only get so much better 8) :D

Hi Thomas,
Maybe but I still need to tweak some settings, I'm pretty sure I can gain the same result as I did with the beta version.

did you make the mapping in rhino? i have a lot of trouble to do it, do you use a plugin?

bye
Thanks delgrande,

I did all mapping in Rhino standard, I'm working on a small tuturial on how it works and will post it in a few days in the Rhino section

Nice soft shadows. What light did you use Nico? Just the sun and sky? Or also emitters?

I like the renders of all the technical equipment that you produce.
