Unbiased in Maxwell means the same thing as it does in any other unbiased renderer really. Give it the same settings, it will render the same image, down to the pixel = unbiased renderer. You can't have an unbiased renderer that uses any kind of random interpolation, be it for anti-aliasing or GI smoothing, then it becomes a biased renderer.
Just wanted to clear up a misconception, like the bumpmap thing: "if Maxwell is unbiased, why does it use bumpmaps, which are fake?"
