I trust you :)
Sorry but was so difficult to see one of this in italy that I decided that they doesn't exist :D

Hey all,

I was wondering if we could also start a renderfarm benchmark. Basically, we could run the same file for 15 minutes and report the SL level.

I just ran the 1.1 mxs benchmark file on six 5160 woodcrests (3 machines, 12 cores, 3GHz) for 15 minutes and it achieved SL 16.50. No benchmark is reported on a merged mxi, unfortunately.

hey Chris !
i think that's a great idea... !

i only see the problem that the list would get very long. not every user has the all of the same computers in his network...

how would You expand this idea ?

to beppeg...
umm... could You add the section where people can add the cinebench R9.5 chart ? just the x-cpu number...

this would be great for reference !

Hey deadalvs,

Good point. Perhaps since people might not need to use the adhoc or mixed renderfarms as a reference for their own renderfarm setup, we could just give a very brief description using generic processors. For example;

#machines-generic processor name-GHz, #machines-generic processor name-GHz, etc.

3-P4-2.8GHz, 4-Xenon-3.2GHz, etc.

Maybe on the list, they can be listed vertically within someone's entry.

Or, people could just give a short description:

8 PC's collected over last three years. :P

About four weeks ago I ran ten of our desktop machines at work just to see if it would work. So I could report:

10 networked office PC's, pentium 4 to dual xenon 3.4's.

In the end, it is just interesting, not really a scientific benchmark, I guess. Does this still have value?

In my opinion this is a totally different test and I don't think it's a good idea to mix the things

 an unbiased render with a biased render
I would like to know what the others testers think about this ideas :?:

@ryo: thanx for making the test, i'll add it soon ;)

the thing is that cinebench is one of the best benchmarks that show the overall performance of the computer system, including harddisk performance, ram and all the stuff. for me it doesn't matter that it's biased, it's about the pure raw performance of the overall system.

it's just a great benchmark ! all together in one number !

Here is another benchmark. I still have about 2 minutes left on my dual Opteron workstation.

Apple PowerMac G5
2 x 2.5 GHz PowerPC 970mp (4 cores)
Mac OS X 10.4.8
4 GB Ram
Time: 1:11:12
Benchmark: 92.81

I'll edit the Opteron score into here when it completes.

EDIT:

Dual Opteron 250 workstation
2 x 2.4 GHz Opteron 250 (2 cores)
Windows XP Professional X64 Edition
4 GB Ram
Time: 1:38:19
Benchmark: 67.26

Thanx to all the new testers ;)
Make me know if there is some mistakes in the db.
