Max, several times in this thread I've clearly mentioned this is a common problem of "unbiased" rendering. What's the point of posting a biased example among comparisons?
Maximus3D wrote:To me it sounds like you NL guys put up so many high barriers to keep Maxwell unbiased that it blocks you from developing a fully functional engine. This is one proof of that.
Any unbiased engine will have this problem. It's not a matter of decision and it's unable to make an engine unbiased while only biasing the shading on surfaces. Now, another unbiased engine having this issue is not a surprise but, the opposite would be.

What's the explanation for this second shadow? Maybe sun? A bug? You can send me the MXS if you like. I found this interesting enough.

Ok Tom.. i have not read every post in this thread from start to finish so i might have missed what you said earlier and if so i am sorry. Unfortunately i have no explanation for that secondary sharper shadow and i trashed the scene when the testrenders were finished so i can't send it to you. Sorry!

It should be easy to replicate as it's only a sphere on a floor with a single emitterplane on the left side angled towards the sphere. Nothing more than that.

OK, I'd be thankful if you can replicate because I cannot.

there are a few more unbiased renders besides maxwell and fry. can somebody post the results with those render engines, if you have installed them?
