Thanks Mike, your help is really appreciated. However, why on earth isn't Victor writing the announcement? Why, once again, is it left to you to dig NL out of a hole?

Telling you guys about thngs we're working on isn't "digging NL out of a hole," it's telling you guys about things we're working on.

The reason I've been writing the announcements is because my English is better than Victor's, and sometimes the language barrier causes confusion.

I understand your point, but surely Victor could write the announcement and then you simply have to proof read it? The impression created by the current situation is that Victor doesn't want to communicate any information to NL's customers and it is therefore left to others outside of the company to do it for him. At what point does Victor take responsibilty for the current situation and make a public announcement? An honest, informative post from him would probably put a stop to most of the angry posts on this forum.

Anyway, none of this is directed at you. I have nothing but respect for your efforts over the past months. You have the patience of a saint!

It's worse than that. Mike had to take it upon himself to write something, and is now fighting to get permission to release it! Victor hasn't taken an initiative, he's resisting it. Mike is having to talk Victor into allowing anthing out.

The impression created by Victor is of utter contempt.

What if Mike describes features to us that end up not working properly? Things that are added can break things that were previously working. This is why I don't program anymore. Once bitten twice shy. This is to give Victor the benefit of the doubt, which not many seem to feel inclined to do lately.

ps.: well i think it is normal to ask the chief, mike also signed an nda i guess, so he has to ask.
i would hate if somebody working for me would publish any info without asking me. so for me its cear that all of the team has to ask victor if they want to publish news. (- and yes i asume/ hope mike gets something at least for his good job here-at least some bonus licenses...)

I'm not sure I understand your point Fran, but you seem to be saying that the fact that unplanned problems can occur is a legitimate reason for Victor to not communicate at all.

No, I meant that he is hesitant to release feature information or predict release dates because it has backfired on him in the past (if you look at the pre-RC1 release hype fiasco as unanticipated). Things have certainly not gone according to plan for NL. Some are better at coping with situations like this than others. It would do NL well to consult with an expert about how to rectify the company's image. It is possible. Right now it seems like things are at a stand-off.

To my mind, it's just a legitimate reason for why he shouldn't have sold preorder licenses until he was confident that he could deliver as promised.

I agree that collecting the money up front was a bad idea.

I try to instill the idea in my son that it's never too late to try to right a wrong. Even if it doesn't fix things. Even if [you've already] lost friends or supporters for good.
