NL just got in over its head with Maxwell; it was far bigger, with far bigger demand than they ever expected, and they've been playing catch-up ever since. That's my guess. I hope they survive the growth for the same reason my company did: the product was sound, and the need was high. We just had to get our stuff together, while still maintaining 100% up-time. Very difficult, and I know NL is in the same boat. They've got to continue bolstering application/customer support while not sacrificing development. It's a balancing act, expensive, and unfamiliar territory. But it can be done.

I will absolutely, unequivocably say that NL is experiencing classic corporate growing pains, nothing more. Sometimes those pains can be life-threatening... that nearly happened to my own company, where suddenly we exploded and didn't have the resources to meet demands. Trying to get the pipeline/staff up to the client needs as quickly as we needed almost didn't happen. Had a few months there with some very angry people, but we adapted. I would have preferred to have a nice, stable slow growth, but suddenly the phone started ringing and I said yes one too many times. But we made it, and made right with those who were upset. There were only a few, and we've been humming along nicely since then, but we learned some important lessons.Ernest Burden wrote:Would you describe NLs actions as well-meaning, or have they been the 'telling lies to keep sales going' (commiting fraud) type?.
