Probably biased now

mmmhmmm

most of the stuff I do needs SSS and/or displacement.
So, a big cosign from here

I think that nobody waited for a such speed improvement.
People imagined maybe 30% more fast, but not twice as fast, and more, between twice and 6 times as fast, it is incredible!!!  :D

In any case congratulation NL !! good good work , and it's just the first annoucement so imagine the final annoucement !! because I'm sure they will reserve us again a big big surprise with something of which we would never have thought, a big innovation .....

mmm.....image 1 and 4 have really different light distribution.....different color contrast. Can someone of NL Team explain why? Has NL changed the rendering algorithm? Or maybe it's only my immagination....

thanks a lot

I'm thinking the same, but the new ones looks better IMO, so I don' care what they've done - it works! Congrats NL!

Are you sure?

Image 1: the shadows are very different in maxwell 1.7 and 2.
and the colour of the metal near the water is much brighter and blu in maxwell 1.7 than maxwell 2.

Image 4: the big left door of the forniture has more light details in maxwell 1.7 (I mean the highlight on the frame). Or above thedrawers...the light (shadows and bright areas) are much more convincing in maxwell 1.7. Maxwell 2 seems to be non so accurate. And the blue tint of the sky? in maxwell 2 is less than maxwell 1.7.

maxwell 2 looks like light cache of vray.... :?

But as I said maybe I'm wrong.

In order to spot the differences you should look at two images that have reached the same SL. Contrast and gamma may appear differently depending on SL...this is due to the lower sampling in darker areas that may let the image appear more crisp and contrasted seen at low magnification in respect with the same image at higher SL. I can say this basing on my personal experience with the current version, and then let's wait a comparison between two images that have reached the same SL before arguing about the changes, donn't you think? :D

ciao mattia,
I'm sorry but I think that SL isn't the problem in this case.
If you look at the image sequence of the sample 4 (you have see at full size) you can see that maxwell 2 at 5 min, 30 min, 2 h doesn't light the frame of the door. Maxwell 1.7 light the frame at 30 min even if tthe image is noisy.

All we have to do, then, is to wait. In any case i would tend to believe that something must have been done... i believe and hope these are optimizations and not biasing...we'll see! :D

I like maxwell because is phisical correct, unbiased and make the better images I have never seen.

There are too much software biased...and much faster....so I hope maxwell will never change
