Hi Everybody.
I uploaded my OctaMac results today - similar to the ones of bejack and Carsten I reach a Benchmark around 450..... but my Cinebench is 2300! So I believe there is something not yet fully optimized in MWMac.
BTW I killed nearly all processes besides mxcl to maximize render speed.

Ideas?

Klaus,
Are you certain that you're using all available CPU threads? According to Henk (on formZ's forum), the Benchwell test starts with only 2 CPU threads. He had to stop it, change it to either 0 or however many cores you have, then restart MXL.

What speed is your RAM? Are you OC'ing that as well?

I've been thinking about upping mine to 1gHz, just wasn't sure if it was worth the trouble.
Ram is at 1:1 = 334 @ 4-4-4-12
i don't know if the timing is the reason for the higher bench.
I have an ASUS P5W64 Pro. Don't know whats your mb, but the x975 chipset is slightly faster than a 965. And i have a RAID 0 installed, but this shouldn't be the point without mxi action and hd-switch.
Cool. Thanks for the info. I have the Nvidia 680i chipset. I'm running 1:1 @ 4-4-4-12 as well, but with a 2x multiplier for RAM stability (it's rated at 800mHz). I'm guessing your running 3x or 4x.

In any event, I just love this chip. For the $$$ it's crazy fast. Tigerdirect has it with free MoBo for $499 today if anybody's looking for one.

Hi dkessler - yes, I did stop the render, because I saw the thread limit. Ran it on 0, all Cores where chewing numbers at full load. My RAM is OK, just checked it..... I will try to run this test on the bootcamp side. Where I would hate it, if it would be faster then my good old (new) Mac!
Cheers, kls

what do you mean by this? My ram is running 1:1 = 334x2=668MHz  - it's DDR2 800 so the ram is not overclocked atm.

True. It wouldn't be faster than the MacPro's 8 core, I guess.

And my MacPro 8 core entry is gone!???? Why?

Carsten, I was wondering this morning too.... but I like it... have the fastest octa now....

Thats strange - I am rendering on my OctaMac under Win x64 on all cores at 88% of CPU usage and the render is at SL14 with a benchmark around 190.... - will report in hour abuot the result and post it to Benchwell...
It seems that the pic is not changing anymore since the last 15min.
'til then, Klaus

Sorry but a few entries were removed since the start of site. Usually when an unspecific CPU (e.g. "Intel Quad-Core") was entered which i could not replace by guessing. Please take your time with the entry form; You run a test for an hour or more, why not take 5 minutes to explore the form. Most CPUs that have been entered separately where in the dropdown list already, so the next user ends up having a dupe, and i have unnecessary cleanup work :|

Apple users simply choose your Mac, everyone else use CPU-Z. It's about the speed associated with your hardware, not your username.

I'll rerun the test soon with lower SL (half the time or less) and have both 32- and 64bit in one table, so don't post any more results for now as they'd be gone.

Thanks.

Mac Pro Dual Quad Core 3.0
9GB ram
OS - Bootcamp running XP64
32bit Maxwell

I tried 64bit Maxwell and it was MUCH slower

Looks like we're set up identical then. When you said you were running 1:1 I wasn't sure what you meant by that. I was thinking FSB speeds, 333=333.

My MoBo's have the option of changing the RAM multiplier so it runs at 333x3=1000mHz or 333x4=1333mHz. I actually tried at 333x2.5 for 800mHz and it was considerably slower due to being out of sync. Was that what you were asking?

I was just checking to make sure I wasn't missing something for a free 5% speed increase. :)

About the 64bit slowdowns, is anybody on a pure PC 64bit machine experiencing these slowdowns?

I'm assuming you mean non-mac / boot camp? Just a regular pc running xp 64 on a 64 bit intel processor?

If so, I benchmarked in the 60 range with Maxwell 64 bit vs 150 for 32 bit using the speedtest. I don't recall the exact numbers but it was less than half as fast. I tried it on two different Intel quad core Q6600 machines.
