I don't think they know you very well Richard. I know you well enough from many of the forums that your comments are insightful and quite helpful in all cases. Plus, you are not one to get on the bandwagon and just give a blanket "Hey that looks great".

Thanks for your input.

With that said . . .

Ronen,

That is a fine looking render. I DO NOT believe it was only and hour or so render. Seems impossible based on my experience with Maxwell.

I would agree with Richard about the windows. They seem a bit too reflective. But, I don't mind the angle, there just aren't that many other options.

You seem to excel in creating trees for you renders. Outstanding work. I cannot see the mapping problem that another poster pointed out but I'm not that picky. I could never get anything close to this level of quality. I think there is a general trend here to over look the art of the image and dwell on every silly little technical issue possible. "Can't see the forest for the trees" as they say.

Nice work again. Outstanding images.

Set the render for SL=12, it seems to be good for outdoor views so far.

Hi Jake... it's good to see you here! and thank u for the feedback.

Regarding the time of render... believe me, it took ~1h10m (that's tested more the once) the benchmarking is very accurate too so you can have a good prediction of time to finish. that's for the 1000x500 image

a 2000x1000 predicated to end around ~4h15m
a 3000x1500 predicated to end around ~12h30m

It might help to mention that the water is not true dielectric, but an AGS style material. so the image clears up faster this way.

this numbers i recorded only after a 15min or so into the render after the BM value was stabilized a little.

About those trees, all i can say is the Onyx modeler is great! and maxwell can handle the poly count and clipmaps very well so far.

Richard

I appreciate the time you take to write your posts, the content of which i appreciate even more.

Richard >> What is the image for? Market?
yep... it is for promotional purposes of this residential complex. so far the clients like what they see.

Richard >> I think the pool looks awesome and you seem to have made a feature of it as if this is a selling point (I bet it is!) but for me the image looks a tad cold!
the native blue cast from the sky can be a problem at times, did you refer to that? the general tone of the image?

Richard >> I was just now wondering if the most effective way to get better reflections on exterior glass may be place a hidden MXI emitter set just away from the building rather then to rely on a reflection cast by the SKY / MXI - HDRI reflectance channel which for me is a real pain!
I didn't explore the MXI - HDRI feature yet. this could be a good solution for many situations

Richard >> The texture malfunction around the pool that someone picked up on PPB, did you work out if it was a problem of placement or what is showing to be a bug in the exporter from SU! I know you export as 3ds have you found any such bug!
No texture work was done in this model other then the initial placement in SketchUP... that was left for a later stage.

Richard >> "Why does it look warm but no one is using the pool?".
I hate putting people into my renders! i know we need them from time to time but if i do - i add them at the end. true 3D or post in PS.

Thanks mate! Ronen

Hy bakbek, i was trying get the same water material than you but i can´t . I´ve read Tim Ellis post but is a bit confused to me. Could you show us the mxm of the caustic and water material?. Thanks in advance.

I have Onyx Broadleaf and Conifer, but only use it for targas for Piranesi. Have modeled a few 3d versions but the polygon count is so big that I haven't use it for anything other than 2d.

Anyway, great renders. I like to see the architectural stuff with Maxwell. Are you adding the clouds in the second image in post work and are you using a HDRI?

The clouds are in post... too many times people ask me to chage a little this and a little that. so i prefer to do this in post using the alpha output as masking.

Thanks for the reply Ronen and thank you too Jake!

Yeah I tend to prescride to the PPB constructive ideals then back patting, though happy to do that too, but nothing wrong with all eyes up to help improve!

Mate regarding the cold feel it is more in regards to the shot on whole being a tad cold, I can imagine the clients like what they see! I tend these days to ask the agent who will be selling - gives them one last issue that they can use if they can't get sales away! I've seen all to often angers between agents and clients when holding charges are costing and agents can't get sales away, people run to place blame!!!

And your right about the people in scene, wouldn't we all love to keep someone else's design out of our own!

Solid!!!

You told us

"It might help to mention that the water is not true dielectric, but an AGS

style material."

What did you mean AGS?

AGS= architectural glass simulator which is a preset material in maxwell which solves the sun and glass issue and is much faster than normal glass because it cuts out the caustics......

thank you for your explain about AGS :D
