That is one cool piece of hardware.....I wonder though if it can accurately capture even measurements of skin, or deep scattering materials, like cheese.

Thomas, maybe those bent beams are due to the circular shape of the light gun? Thinking of how the slit is bent near near the top and bottom where it meets the out shell....perhaps the dual prisms enlarge the effect.

Mihai, ......i think yes on that hardware. .....i believe that after watching the little flash demo, that if the hardware can accurately capture changing reflective values, why wouldn't the makers also include light absorbtion analysis and other qualities? .....certainly they must of thought about all the real world materials that posess such qualities ........, i guess it's all just specualation after all.

 This is my result

i tried with a red emitter, cause at first with a white one, i couldn't have the dispersion, like here
the glass settings are the same as you mentionned, but don't know about
infinite reflections (it"s automatic?)
You can see i have the same bending

Sampling level reached 14.68 (let it render longer in doubt the dispersion will appear?)

haa ok!

but i don't agree, i want the same result than Thomas, and i don't understand why the reflected light keeps its color, instead of dispersing

I think you need to try and better match the placement of the lightgun and the prisms with Thomas example, also make the slit thinner and perhaps up the strength of the emitter. And then wait ofcourse........ :P
