We are thinking of building a new rendering machine for the office here, and were considering the MacPro Octa...but must say the performance with Maxwell seems to be really slow for the money. Any known reason for this?

I think that has to do with the OS X version of maxwell not beeing as fast as the Win XP version.

Have you...or anyone here...tested your MacPro with XP64 and running Maxwell? Curious if you would then see the benefits of the 3 ghz 8 cores. I would think / hope that the results should be around 20 to 25 min. for this benchmark.

@-Adrian. my entry is incorrect, I tested the scene with my laptop. I just got 1gig of ram. also the cpu is wrong, mine is a 2ghz core duo 2 (macbook). I was just too tired when I compiled the benchwell form, but I must admit that all of those cpu names are extremely confusing for me...

I've been thinking about upping mine to 1gHz, just wasn't sure if it was worth the trouble.

Np m8, i've set the ram to 1 (my php script should've caught that). I noticed i had only added the MacBook Pro to the db, but not the MacBook, so no surprise you didn't find it.

In general Mac users should have it pretty easy due to the small amount of options. Click Apple and pick from the CPU list.


Also, if anything in your entries is fishy, the form will turn red in that section to indicate that.


But since i'll do a rerun of the list (you wanted it, you got it ), you should wait a little. I'll keep the CPUs that have been added so far and see if anything else needs to be added.

Ram is at 1:1 = 334 @ 4-4-4-12
i don't know if the timing is the reason for the higher bench.
I have an ASUS P5W64 Pro. Don't know whats your mb, but the x975 chipset is slightly faster than a 965. And i have a RAID 0 installed, but this shouldn't be the point without mxi action and hd-switch.

I'll contribute if it's shortend, now it just takes to long on my 1-2 year old pc's. But I guess it's more interesting to see how good and new systems perform - so it's not a big deal if it's left as it is now.

Accuracy was my reasoning behind the length. Since everyone else begs for a shorter one, i'll make it shorter.
