   WoW!!!

You made me really happy! :D
I like it alot. Nice to see how that little
coating candy works in your model.

Even without tiling problem, black paint is really
hard to get right. I didn't and i don't even know why.

Good work Tim!

Great renderings Tim and cool material Larson.
However i must say that in my opinion the car paint is to reflective.

Heh, this has been the thorn in my side since I made my first ever car render 4 years ago.

I know it's personal taste, but please check these photos of my real car and then please tell me again if our materials are too reflective.

Great!!!!! :o

Here is my car render.

but I can't use Larsson's materials because that my materials already have weightmapped texture in the side panel. :(

It just have 2 bsdf layers and coating layer.

How could I make a Larsson's metallic material with another weightmapped texture? :?

Cheers Tea_Bag. :D

Sandy, I would use another layer, similar to the method I used for the metal flakes in my paint.

Let the weightmap reveal a black bsdf layer. If you are only putting the black text on your great car.

If you need to use a reflectance map, which from your render I think you do, then weightmap that layer. I think you could get away with just adding another layer to LarsSon's paint stack.

For the graphics on my Pimpala model, I used a slightly different method.

I took the colour values for the two layers of paint, from the MXED, using these I created a texture in Photoshop and overlayed the graphics.

Loading my car paint, I then put this texture as a reflectance map. In bsdf layer 1 the graphics are very prominent, if in layer 2 only, then the graphics have that painted over look.

So you could take the base colours of the paint, create a texture in PS or similar, then overlay this with your graphics. Obviously you need to match up your mesh for the UV mapping. ;)

Hope this helps,

Tim.

Just a new render with Maxwell V1.1. Glare added with Maxwell after render.
Bump mapping fixed in shadow areas of the cobbles texture.

I would say not reflective enough actually. Check out these photos:

Some of those cars are so reflective you can barely tell what color they are.
Hence my posting the photos of my car. ;)

Glad you agree. :D

Tim,

The works on the car is just great, cheers!

You really need to share your knowledge on glare. It's miles ahead anything I was able to achieve. Or if you already did that and I didn't see the post please let me know...

Glare maps will be online for download tomorrow, including a short tutorial cos' there's many different ways to add glare.

The one used in the last image is a fine 6 pointed white star on a black background.

The black paint is available in the Maxwell Goodies/ Share materials thread and is included in my car paint with the red & green versions.

Cheers,

Tim.
