Oh Hervé, this looks wonderful. Just extraordinary.
I especially admire the texture creation and the exact placement of the textures and mapping.
Did you use any particular utility to unwrap the surface so that you could place the texture correctly?

Impressive interpretation of still-life. I like the second post, better composition.

hello Hervé,

i remember exactly that topic about wood, but i can`t find it too. i thought i have it in my favourite links, but not anymore.
last time i was exploring finished cherry wood in different angles and it was interesting. there were lighter and darker parts and when rotating it in different angles, they became inverse.
i also found another link: www.graphicsinterface.org/cgi-bin/ DownloadPaper?name=2002/217/paper217.pdf
it is about Beard-Maxwell reflection model. but i think Maxwell is there in another context :)

Hello... thanks a lot fro the compliments... I let it cook overnight.. agin not totally satisfied with the wood... some parts near the vase look cool... but some other reflections are totally un-natural, like the large reflection on the right of picture..

PA3K, thanks for the link.... ahhh dammit... I need that link...

Victor, I am pretty sure you might have such white paper... no..?

anyway back to tests... that one cooked fro 15 hours..

Hervé, as i said above your model and rendering are perfect, the wood is now very very good, the only thing, in your last render is that we see the end of the wood :D
