BTW: There's that note on the updates site now:
Please note: Images shown here may be re-rendered with the latest internal update to version2 in development, and then re-uploaded here. You may see subtle changes to some v2 images in these comparisons as we continue to improve things towards a final version 2 release.

Not sure what exactly that means.

maybe it means from now on up to the release of V2.0 they'll rerender one image over and over again..and just from the slightly different look we'll have to guess the new features..it'll be a fun game..hossa!

Hmmm?

I don't know what those little flash loading things are called but given the logo only has one dot in each they will reload with the new two dot logo once they reach SL 10?

Just being silly now I'm tired at 1am!

check the clay interior  8)
I was just about to write, that clay render looks sort of different to me.
What was the issue with it's recent version?
PS: Perhaps we should start saving those images, so that we can follow the evolution. :D

yea I was sort of disapointed that they didnt keep the old vesion so you can actually -see- the improvement in time & quality

Hrm, that is interesting. I recall there being a significant difference in the dark areas of that rendering previously. As I recall I believe they were noticeably less noisy and showed more detail.

Now the renders look quite similar between the 2 different versions. The most noticeable difference to me is that v2 seems a scooch darker w/ sharper shadows, a bit less washed out in the lighter areas. Anyone see any other significant differences?

Maximus3D wrote:Funny thing about this thread is that we have like 3-4 pages about 2.0 and the rest of the pages is about nothing! :D ..it reminds me of a Seinfeld episode when Jerry and George wrote a sitcom about nothing. hehe

Well, we just gotta talk about something... Don't worry, with new update out, things will get back to normal.

For me, they improved the shaders, the most noticeable difference are from reflections, maybe a sort of new reflective layer?
Maybe a new Lambertian material too, light seems to scatter differently, that would explain the differences in constrast/shadows?
An internal denoiser?

Are the files strictly the same, with the same lighting setup etc?
