You're truly a pioneer. I'm glad you blazed this trail so we could all sit on the shoulders of genius!

Hi sss-master ;-) Bubbaloo,

That leaves are fantastic!!
Do I say something wrong if I ask you to share this material, or to tell the settings?

Thanks! I will post the material to the mxm site when I'm satisfied with it (a little more tweaking). I want to make sure it looks realistic in all natural lighting conditions of the sun.

I have found some interesting and non-intuitive results.
Look at this side by side comparison of SSS and non-SSS leaves:
Image

Left:
SSS Leaves
S.L. 10 @ 800x600
B.M. 59.24
Time: 15m 4s

Right:
Non-SSS Leaves
S.L. 10 @ 800x600
B.M. 40.68
Time: 21m 58s

Also noticed (and this might be another topic) that the shadows do not match exactly from one render to the next. I made no adjustment to the sun! Max Daylight system is used for both renders.

hi Bubbaloo,

interesting result

Did you close and reopen the scene between these two tests? Could this be the "automatic date adjustment" bug?

I think south park was his inspiration :)

Here's a strange thing that is happening. Part of the transparent part of the leaves are going opaque on one small part of the render. All the leaves are mapped with the same material.

Can this be explained?

A blowup render of the area is not having this same problem:
