Is Maxwell 1.0 compatible with the current 1.2.2 MXS files ?
I can send you a simplified version of the scene for testing purposes.

(Or maybe in 3ds format, but then you would have to re-apply materials)

BTW, thank you for taking a look at this.

Excellent explanation of all the light 'activity' involved.
Tom asked about text; I think he meant the encircled part

What does show there?

That looks to be the reflection of the support of the lightgun. I don't think there's any text on the prisms, it's just in the second pic, the diagram is super imposed on them. Impressive test, hope to this in 1.0....would be very interesting to see how fast the caustics clear up.

Yes, (as Mihai mentioned) those are the holes on the front support plate of the lightgun. There are no textures of any kind and no text of any kind in the entire image.

two things

very few modellers are 100% accurate, so maybe the prism isn't a perfect prism (not exactly at 60.0000000000 degrees) hence the arced lightstrips (most scientific lens programs use internal mathematical perfect lesn and prism models..could be that or again i could be wrong)

how the heck (can i say that? is that english?) did you superimpose so perfectly the wireframe? isn't the maxwell camera too different to the other cameras in other renderers?
Thank you Whiskey,

You could be right about accuracy. Well, it was done in Rhino. So the prisms are nurb surfaces at 0.001cm tolerance. Somehow, though I doubt that a 10E-15 imperfection would cause such arching (maybe if it was a network of prisms where the distortion adds up ? ) ... but its something to consider.

About the camera matching: In Rhino it is possible to have a near perfect match if the film is set to 24x24mm. This is the current buglist item (A050701.10) http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6932

I didn't know other plugins have the same problem, because if this is the case then it might be a Maxwell bug and not a plugin bug.

for sure .......good point. .......i still want one of those. :) i can't believe that it reproduces effects like interference colors or luminescence. Unreal.

.....just think about the implications toward animations. great.
