All that would require is maxwell to save each surfaces information as a new texture at a set resolution, its perfectly do-able, would just take an extreme amount of work. variables would have to go home though, unless animated textures were used, and it would also take an obscene amount of time to render.


Back on topic - good luck with the film falconking, its looking promising, youve got a fantastic ability to visualise scenes in no time at all.

I'm almost surpised you didn't write the script something along these lines.. ;)

:) Ok my friends, this is it.... I reach the limits of my machine (dual athlon mp 2.6ghz 4 gigs of ram). I finished the western shore and added as much trees and details as I could. here:

So, after this, I had to do a little more planing to figuer out how to continue with this massive scene, and this is what is next....
In order to be able to render more than 25-28 million polygons in this scene ( maybe a few SGI workstations could do this in one pass :() I have to do it in passes , with the same camera parameters, motion and speed, and later compose the whole thing in post. So, I have to render 8 or 9 consecutive passes of 4-6 million polys each.
I must be nuts !!! and then put the entire escene together. I made a little sketch of how this thing goes:

Pass number 8 will be for the armies fighting. I calculate 6 million polys for 500 to 1000 soldiers and a few horses, but of course, I might be totally wrong, well, we will see that in a few weeks. pass nine will be for ships, boats, birds, clouds, fire, smoke and other details.
Final details will be added in post.
So this is it. If you have any good ideas or sugestions to help me improve this plan, tell me ! thanks for your great support, this is the only thing that helps me to go on with this crazy ambitious project ! :D
